Brunei Darussalam ranks 4th in ASEAN Cyber SEA Games 2021

29 November 2021 - Four Bruneians represented Brunei Darussalam in the virtual ASEAN Cyber SEA Games 2021 held on the 26th November 2021. The Cyber SEA Game competition was hosted virtually by the ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Capacity Building Centre (AJCCBC) and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand.

The game is a Capture The Flag (CTF) competition catered to students and engineers below the age of 30 from the ten ASEAN Member States. CTF competition is commonly used in the information security field to enhance technical knowledge, skills and experience as well as teamwork.

The four participants from Brunei Darussalam were hosted at Cyber Security Brunei (CSB) and included three finalists from Cyber Battle: Capture The Flag 2021 competition that was held in May of this year, in addition to one participant from Cyber Security Brunei.

Joshua Chin, who was participating for the second time in the ASEAN Cyber SEA Game said, “Being my second time participating in this international event, our Brunei team has made significant improvement from last year, securing 4th place out of the 10 ASEAN countries. This demonstrates that Brunei is progressively moving forward, by advancing our skills and knowledge in cybersecurity, showing that we are not too far off from the international competition.”
