CSB Hosted an Educational Visit For Sixth Form Students
Cyber Security Brunei (CSB) recently received over 30 students from Pusat Tingkatan Enam Sengkurong for an educational visit to the National Digital Forensic Laboratory. The group of students consisted of the Upper Sixth and Lower Sixth undertaking Computer Science and were led by the Head of Computer Science Department, Cikgu Shahrifah binti Hj Mohd Shahlan and Principal of Pusat Tingkatan Enam Sengkurong, Cikgu Tutty Hyrneeita binti Hj Abd Latip, including teachers from various department.
The students were briefed on the introduction to Cyber Security Brunei, led by Security Analyst, Nomi Hafiz Zakiah Haji Pawi. She also shared the main roles of Cyber Watch Centre and Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCERT). The students also learnt the types of incidents that can be reported to BruCERT such as infected computers, online impersonation, phishing and cyberbullying. The final presentation touched on the roles of National Digital Forensic Laboratory (NDFL), led by Digital Forensic Analysts, Abdul Qadir Al Aziz Zaidi and Abdul Muiz Haji Omarali.
The visit was followed by a tour around the National Digital Forensic Laboratory, where they learnt how the tools are being used by a digital forensic analyst when dealing with electronic evidence. The students witnessed how evidence are collected and how to safely degauss, destruct and dispose a hard disk as part of the data sanitization process following a standard lab protocol.
